GIS Software at Penn State, University Park
ArcView 9.0 is available in all University labs that have Microsoft Windows machines. The site license allows unlimited use. ArcInfo 9.0 is also available in the same labs but there are only 30 licenses so no more than 30 people can use it any time. A clickable map of lab locations that gives details of lab availability and the machines located there is available from the Classroom and Lab Computing group of Penn State's Information Technologies Services. A complete software list is also available. The Penn State Maps Library also provides GIS computing.

Seed Funding for GIS-Related Activities
The Penn State Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Council was formed in 2001 to facilitate GIS-related activities, support preparation of large-scale proposals related to GIS, increase awareness of the use of GIS, identify the places at Penn State where geospatial expertise exists, and define other GIS-related issues University wide.
We invite all Penn State faculty and staff to consider ways in which they might creatively promote geospatial information systems within our institution.
